that 3m persimmon rod looks very interesting, but is a 3m rod with that kind of toughness needed? And wow Y40,000!
I would love to fish one, I am always interested in shorter (packed) rods, also 2.9 to 3.2m is my sweet spot for a small-stream rod.

40,000 JPY is pricey. I thought maybe the higher cost was driven by the need to precisely make and fit 10 rod sections.
The triple zoom Tenryu TF39TA is higher cost. With 14 sections.

However, the Nissin (テンカラ ミニ) Tenkara Mini 3.25 m rod, has 18 sections. And list for 22,600 JPY. Probably sold for a lower price in most shops.

I might be wrong about this. I frequently am. My wife prefers the word “always” over “frequently”. 
I suspect “persimmon” is not a correct translation.
Recently, the last week or two, google translate has become more inaccurate than normal.
Lately by default frequently translating - テンカラ竿 as tenkara salmon , tenkara bowl or tenkara samurai. Depending on the other words in a phrase. In preference to the correct translation of - tenkara rod.
Try google translation of these two phrases:
テンカラ竿の限界に挑む！ [ challenge limits of tenkara pole / rod.
or テンカラ竿 おすすめ [tenkara rods recommended.]
Google is by default translating
テンカラ竿の特徴 as “Characteristics of Tenkara Persimmon” .
Adding a period, and テンカラ竿の特徴。translates another way - as Characteristic of Tenkara salmon.
テンカラ竿の特徴 - should translate as - characteristics /features of tenkara rod.
テンカラロッドの特徴 - translates as “Feature of Tenkara Rod”
Substituting the word for rod (ロッド) for the kanji for rod (竿)
Same change of translation with these phrases:
テンカラ竿の限界に挑む！
テンカラロッドの限界に挑む！
テンカラ竿 おすすめ
テンカラロッド おすすめ
However. If you input テンカラ竿の特徴 and click on the English translation, the drop down choice for an alternate translation is correct - “Features of Tenkara rod”.

Nissin currently makes Oni rods, including the Type 1, 2, and 3.
Not too surprised that might be the case. In old photos from when the Oni rods were in their early refinement. Masami-san was frequently seen with Nissin tenkara rods. In particular the 3.6m 7:3 rod. I assumed they fit his fishing or casting style.
