Just bought this. Light enough for backpacking. Can’t wait to catch some stockers and put it to its intended use.
Mike,
Arno makes wonderful knives. Take good care of your knife, it is a very special knife. You made
a great selection.
I just run an old school Case Trapper. More of an EDC than a fishing knife, but always finds itself in my pack.
I spend too much time on bladeforums.
Mike,
I used to collect knives and I had to stop. The cost of some of these knives where out of the ballpark.
Unfortunately, I had someone break into my home the day before Thanksgiving and took my entire ($20,000 +) collection. I only received about 55% back from the insurance company. I found out through some former students who took the collection but I could never retrieve the knives. The brother of a former student that became addicted to drugs took the knives. He finally got caught breaking into someone else’s home and went to jail. I can only hope and pray he got help and straighten out his life. It is a shame to see people destroy their lives by drugs, alcohol, or gambling.
The perfect knife for this job. What type of steel did Arno use in making this knife? Did you
treat the sheath with bees wax (Snow Seal)? A really beautiful and functional knife. I’m guessing it is about 3.5 inches in length.
Blade length is 3.15” and it’s N690. Sheep’s horn handle. I quite like it.
I usually carry a small Tops neck knife when fishing. When I am camping or backpacking I carry an ESEE-6 fixed blade.
Has anyone seen this knife from Boeker. It’s pretty cool with the different trout species scales.
This one is called “The Brook” i was thinking about picking one up
Yes,
I’ve seen this knife. They also offer the Brown Trout knife design. I think Orvis also offered
it in their hunting catalog. I think it is a really cool design. I cannot remember the steel used but Boker usually selects a good steel for all of their knives. It seems like it is a good knife for everyday use. My favorite fix blade size generally runs 4 to 5 inches. Did you purchase this
knife? I was wondering how it feels in the hand and how it performs for chores.
Hi Mike, I believe the steel is V-10 the same one used in most Japanese kitchen knives. Handle is G10. I didn’t buy it yet, but it would be nice to have in the collection. I am also curious to know how it handles.
I recently picked up an ESEE 3 for EDC and camping, which is an awesome knife with a lifetime warranty no questions asked.
The Esee 3, 4, and 6 are great knives. I unfortunately gave my Esee 6 to my son-in-law.
I enjoyed the Esee 6 so much that I might have to buy another one. These things happen when you are a dad an granddad I hope you will enjoy the Esee 3 as much as
I have doing different chores and bushcraft.
Thanks Mike! I love the knife so far. I also have a ESEE 6 and use it for bushcraft. They are great knives. I wanted something smaller for EDC and fishing so I got the 3.
