A season on spiderwire

I changed all tapers to only two instead of three.
60% to 40%. Instead of 60%,20%,20%.

For shorter rods, most will load with a lighter line. I use the 65# to the 50# or no taper and just one or the other. Compared to Level line, these lines are a heavier but lighter than furled.

This line may not be for everyone. Those who are used to level line may not care. Fluorocarbon level lines will cast far better in wind and will be far lighter. Trade offs. Most level lines ae challenging to see and i have learned to rely on the visbilty of my running line as both indicator and tracking for my drift.

For comparison, the 65 pound test SpiderWire Invisi-Braid, @ 0.015", is about the same diameter as Size 4.5 Flurocarbon Tenkara Level Lines, which means it will not cast nearly as well in the wind but will be much easier to hold up and off of the water.

With SpiderWire starting as light as 6 Lb. test @ 0.005", I can see this offering a possibility for people to make much lighter weight and thinner furled lines that are lighter than water and float. Having the ability to go from 65 Lb. test to 80 Lb. test while only adding 0.001 of an inch in diameter and being the same diameter as 20 Lb. nylon mono is pretty amazing, don’t you agree?

Thank you for taking the time to give us this information, Karl. Awesome!!! :wolf:

Big diameter, light weight, harder to feel, more drag, less inertia, harder to cast, easier to see.

Smaller diameter, heavier weight, easier to feel, less drag, more inertia, easier to cast, harder to see.

Taste great, less filling.

Nylon is bigger, less weight, easier to feel, easier to see, cheaper.

Fluorocarbon is smaller, more weight, easier to feel, harder to see, more expensive.

I use the Oni line in fluorocarbon after a lot of experimenting.

I like the way it handles, ages, the whole fishing deal, I can see it and it works for me.

I think people should use what works for them, it’s best that way.
