Here it is translated;

“Prior to the release of Shimano “BG Tenkara” on December 20, BG Tenkara arrived, so I went to Shiba River in Fujinomiya.

The condition of the rod is not different from that of the prototype, but it is for the first time to experience the product version such as the shape of the grip, the feel of the grip, and the design.

It is Shiba River that can be expected to exceed 50 cm, and in some cases 60, in the nearby natural mountain stream. On this day, I accompanied Okazaemon Y.

It’s been more than two weeks since the Shibakawa Tenkara exchange event on October 31st, so it’s expected that the fish will be threaded.

It’s about 10 cm lower than the exchange party, it’s clear, and it’s Monday, so it’s tough to be wary of anglers on Saturdays and Sundays. As expected, it’s unsun in the morning.

Flyman, who is coming almost every day, suddenly became astringent in the past week. It seems that one or two animals should come out. Yesterday, the activity came out after 3 o’clock, and it was dry and out of Harris.

That means I have a chance in the afternoon. If you miss one chance, you may end up with Bows.

Hair burr is No. 10 of Bali Bus “2430V-WBL”. It is a popular name, “Nishisaburo”, which only I say.

If it is over 50, the tension may be extended on the thin shaft. It is a favorite tension with a thick shaft and almost no baldness.

Tungsten beads are bitten into this, and peacocks are wrapped around the textile with self-bonding tape. Harris is Fujino “Fluoro Tenkara Harris No. 1” 1m.

The hatch started near 3 o’clock. The insects are quite large. Don’t come this! Premonition.

.

Go from the 1m Toro field to the next shoulder! Atari. It’s over 50. It’s troublesome to enter the lower stream. Hold the rod on its side and stop sprinting for the time being.

After that, there is a game when you bring the fish in front of you. No matter how much the fish pulls or runs, all the rods are treated. It was 53 cm. Since it is thin for its length, there may be little food.

Moved to the downstream part near 4:30. There should be Atari because the evening mazume is near, but Unsun.

I saw a fish move on the concrete at the bottom of the water for a moment. This is coming! It’s a throw. It’s over 40. This fish has a stronger pull.

Jump. Even if you run over there and come over here, if you lay the rod down and put it on the upper rod (the tip of the rod faces upstream), you can surely catch the fish no matter how much the fish goes wild.

Although it is 43 cm, it is thicker and has perfect fins, so it has a stronger pull than 53 cm.

If the fish is big, I’m in a hurry, and I just put up a rod and try to bring it closer to myself. Raising the rod raises the jaw of the fish (I don’t know if the fish has a jaw).

When the chin rises, it receives water resistance from the body and runs downstream on the stream. When I ran downstream, if I couldn’t keep up with it, I couldn’t catch it because I was out of Harris.

Atari! As soon as you find it big, lay the fish on its side and don’t flip it over. At this time, if the rod is weak, the fish can take the initiative.

Although it was 2 hits in 2 at bats, BG Tenkara was a fishing rod that reconfirmed that it was a rod that could take the initiative before the fish.

Even if it is released, I would like to apply over 60 cm in a natural mountain stream. Next year, I plan to challenge over 60 wild rainbow trout with BG Tenkara.

On this day, we also tested the new marker of Fujino Straight Line. This is another report.”

I’ve asked many of my Japanese angling friends to help me start a Social Media group, Honryu Tenkara.

It is growing rapidly.

This group has a good feeling of Japanese involvement.

Super excited about it.

Instead of what I don’t like, we get what we want.

There is a popular pole going on now about honryu rods, cool.

Very positive.

More Japanese involvement.

The future is bright!

Love the idea Adam. Too bad for me cause I dumped FB over a year ago and don’t plan to get back on. I’ll have to hope for updates here and on your blog.

@anon86692127 , do you have a link to the Honryu social media site?

One way to dump FB without actually leaving is just unfollow everybody you don’t really want to see updates from and then just allow the few groups you want to follow. Keeps the noise down to a bare minimum.

I took a month off and it was great.

But now I’m back at it with far fewer arguing, actually, no arguing.

No moderation.

I’m really pretty happy with the participation, we are at about 200 now and it’s growing steadily.

I’m hoping to get it going and hand over the reigns to someone once it’s rolling on it’s own.

Like you, I need to quit.

Like all web sites I make or forums or whatever, I do it because there is a need. I could care less about fandom or my ego.

I’m just experienced and capable, I know people and it’s easy for me.

But, I don’t want to do this long term.

Soon as the solution presents itself…

I would love to do this but even the people I don’t like that are into it? I like what they do. I’ve always have had the ability to separate myself from dislike and focus on the job of reporting.

Even with what I know, I’ve learned to forget about about others misgivings and get to the task at hand.

I love the fact that I’m actually helping teach some of the Japanese people, about the craft that originated in their country.

In that, I find a certain responsibility.

So I’m keeping at it for now.

That is interesting that you would be sharing knowledge back to Japan. It makes sense given that people here are also experimenting and learning new techniques and strategies.

Not really.

I taught a gentleman tenkara in Japan, he did not know it. He knew about it but I taught him the fundamentals.

People read things and get ideas from what they read or hear, if someone says something enough times, people just believe it to be true. The term “keiryu” in America is now synonymous with bait fishing. It does not exactly mean that, it is a term for mountain stream fishing.

A lot of Japanese anglers just don’t know, it’s not in their DNA.

Here is an example from a tenkara expert, taught by experts, living in Japan, he says the same thing, even some Japanese anglers don’t know.

I ordered my rod through Plat by reservation in early November. Yesterday I received word from Plat they expect my Shimano BG Tenkara rod to be in on 12-28-20. Hopefully all goes well and 2021 starts with a new rod!

First stock photo I have seen from a store in Japan. Any one else order one yet?

Ordered some but haven’t gotten them yet.

I would jump on it but after having a conversation with myself I really don’t fish streams where I actually need one. It was a tough conversation. I hate it when I’m practical.

First thoughts are short because I got home and ran out of daylight. Sorry.

Rod is lighter in hand than I expected at the Shimano advertised 4.5 oz weight. Even at full extension I was surprised. Yes, still a 4.8m rod, but it seemed to be a non issue single hand casting. Two hand it’s a feather.

6:4 action seems accurate as advertised. Cast a 3.5 level line beautifully. Rod seems to recover very quickly after casting stroke.

Can’t wait to fish soon and give an update!

Looks great. I’ll have to pick one up when Chris Stewart gets them in. I need more Tenkara rods after all (nope).

I hope you guys like the rod.

I’ve decided to pass and continue to use my Suimu EX 5m.

Took the new rod out to a pond for some casting just to flex the rod a bit. I was not expecting to catch fish due to recent weather and my thoughts proved right with no fish to speak of. Haha.

I am really loving this rod. The handle has a slightly larger diameter near the top cork section. I find it comfortable to fish one handed when using the longer rear portion of the handle to rest my forearm on for leverage. Two hand casting maintains a very light feel.

I used a 3.5 level line and the rod cast it wonderfully. Wind was light and not something I had to contend with. So far I have used rod length line as well as 18 foot line plus tippet. Rod really loads in the cast with power down low.

For its intended purpose hats off to Shimano and Dr. ishigaki. It’s a keeper for me. Can’t wait to get on some fish!
