First trip to Japan since doing tenkara

Hi everyone,

My family is returning to Japan over New Years 2022. It’ll be the first time since the pandemic and since doing tenkara. We’ll be in Western Tokyo, in Fuchu on the Tamagawa - and I would like to go where I used to live, out near Akigawa and Okutama. How is fishing there in the winter? I know that the Fuchu area is not really tenkara land - but I’m foreign and I’m sure that people will forgive me. For Akigawa, where are the good spots? Are there any areas where fishing is prevented (for instance being a local water source, not open in winter, etc)?

Glad to join the community here!

Hi Masaki. Thanks! I have a 日本語のキーボード on my phone, so I’ll just type it in

Do you know if winter fishing is allowed in 秋川渓谷? I used to spend a lot of time in Hinohara and that’s where I imagine going.

Thank you!

Thanks so much. I misunderstood that you probably lived in Tokyo because you were responding in that way. I really appreciate your help. How do I search for local fishing unions, especially in Japanese? Thank you!
