My family is returning to Japan over New Years 2022. It’ll be the first time since the pandemic and since doing tenkara. We’ll be in Western Tokyo, in Fuchu on the Tamagawa - and I would like to go where I used to live, out near Akigawa and Okutama. How is fishing there in the winter? I know that the Fuchu area is not really tenkara land - but I’m foreign and I’m sure that people will forgive me. For Akigawa, where are the good spots? Are there any areas where fishing is prevented (for instance being a local water source, not open in winter, etc)?
As l’m living in Kyoto l’m not sure about any rules of each rivers in Kanto areas. but usually the fishing season begins at March in many rivers. Almost rivers are under the controlled by each Fishing Unions. You may check each blogs.
Thanks so much. I misunderstood that you probably lived in Tokyo because you were responding in that way. I really appreciate your help. How do I search for local fishing unions, especially in Japanese? Thank you!
