Unfortunately I just broke my trusted Oni type 1 rod tip. This has been my go to rod for 10 years and I’m heartbroken. Is there a source for Oni parts in the USA?

Sorry to hear it, I know how you feel. Earlier this season I ordered some Oni Type I parts from the TENKARA ONI SHOP
Shipping to the USA was ~$40, but as far as I know this is the best way to get Oni rod parts.

Thank you, I probably will just order from JP. I have been very lucky and have not broke a rod in a long time. Today was the exception…

Tyson — I have a spare Type-I tip in Bishop (thanks again for the recommendation!) that I can sell you for whatever Oni is charging on his site when I’m back in town at the end of this month if you’re interested, just to get your rod back on its feet ASAP. I would be down to split shipping on additional spare parts/tips/etc from Japan to Bishop anytime also. Let me know if that’s of interest

That would be fantastic Andy! I try to get out fishing almost every weekend, especially back country during the summer. We went to Tyee 4-5th lakes yesterday it was great out. I’m sure I’m significantly slower than you though.

I bought multiple replacement parts when I bought my Type 1 and have already replaced the tip. It’s the only Tenkara rod I’ve broken to date. Given how expensive shipping is might make sense to buy a couple tips and 2nd sections . You’ll have the parts and they will retain their value.

Hello all, sorry to hijack this thread, my first post here. but I’ve broken my Type1-oni and unfortunately I’ve found out that the shop is closed and i can’t seem to get a hold of anyone. I read some folks may have some spare parts to sell… i broke it in McCloud up in Northern California 2 weeks ago… any leads on replacement parts would also be super appreciated. I broke the 2nd to last piece right before the tip that has the Lilian… Thank you in advance.

No need to apologize! You can still order directly from Oni in Japan, it takes a little while and shipping is expensive. So order enough to make it worth while.

I just checked the website… no stock? I did some googling and apparently the person that handles orders is sick? Hope they’re ok and orders will be available again soon… So thought I’d try here… it’s one of my favorites
