Product Development as a Hobby

Having posted pretty extensively here about developing Tenkara accessories, I thought it might be fun to share some non-Tenkara stuff I’ve been designing too.

Anyone else been building something fun in their free time?

Hard to find time, but I carve my own striped bass plugs. They are 10.5" and 6oz. I spend time tuning them so they suspend on pause and look alive when dead drifting or swinging.

The story behind the top plug, it is mine but lost it in a cove in june and found it in september.

The stripers sometimes go airborne on them. So cool to se 20-30# class fish go airborne on strike like a trout would.

The below is not something I made but what i found on the same outing I found my plug. I think erosion released it from the clay bluffs.

I think it is an Adena Celt 500 BC - 100 AD

Very nice looking lures, and apparently very durable too! What a coincidence to find it months later.

There’s some poetry to finding the residue of an ancient craftsman within walking distance of your own lost handywork. I occasionally find little artifacts on my outings; I wonder how common this is among fishermen.

Agreed. The place is special to me so finding it there adds to that poetry. Definitely a strange correspondence with some other fellow across time.
