Slingshots

I just bought my first “adult” sling shot. It is used strictly for racoon defense while camping. We have some pretty bold coons here in Wisconsin, campers have habitualized them to human food and have trained them to come to campfires to get treats. My wife actually had an about 40 pounder crawl into the back of her chair. They make a nice thud when my ball bearing hits them in the chest.

Arise, thread from six years ago, and obey me!

I’m not sure if this appeals to anyone, but I have a slingshot with me always. But it’s a little different; it’s called “frameless,” and it’s just a band and a pouch. It just looks like a bracelet. Depending on my plans for the day, I either have a magnet in my pocket covered with .177 BBs, or some nonmetallic shot loose in my pocket. The learning curve is painfully steep to shoot frameless, but once the style is mastered you can take it absolutely anywhere!

I carry a throwing stick or Karli with me in the rod holding area. I do have a slingshot but it is similar to the biblical one that David used in the old testament (I’m not very good). I don’t take it with me fishing but maybe I should. Pbreezy, where did you get this slingshot? It really looks cool, I’ve never seen one like this before.

Oh yeah centripetal slings are practically impossible to be consistent with… I just make these with some hollow tubing from simpleshot and a slingshot pouch from gzkband. I find three loops around my wrist provides a good elongation factor. I tie the bands to the pouch with waxed nylon in a constrictor knot. I’ve got some laying around I think if you want one!
