I have a Tenkara USA Rhodo and I’m considering a Dragontail Mutant. I’ve recently started offering therapeutic fly fishing in Wisconsin, and we have some really small streams with a lot of trees. The shorter lengths help with casting and I’m hoping will be flexible switching to child clients.

Using Tenkara to facilitate trauma therapy

I am taking a leap here to share something that I have developed this past year. In a nutshell, I have designed what I believe to be the first concept and model for integrating Therapeutic Fly Fishing with any psychotherapy model (it’s normally done along side psychotherapy, not as psychotherapy) - integrating it with EMDR (which is a well-researched/effective trauma therapy). Regarding the rhodo, great rod, one of my small stream favorites.

For children and a potential leave behind/gift to the participant. I bought a pair of these rods years ago. They are cheap but functional and probably ideal for small hands. If they break…no big loss at 8 dollars.

They might make for a great practice rod between sessions.
