Tenryu Furaibo grip screw cap o-rings sizes

Since I needed to substitute some grip screw cap o-rings of my Tenryu Furaibo rods, I got a bit crazy finding right sizes.
Thanks to Plat suggestions and some trial and error I got them fixed; sizes information is not available online (at least I didn’t find any) so I’m sharing them for people that may experience same pain I got during the process.

TF32TA

  • 8,5 mm x 1,0 mm
  • 9,5 mm x 1,0 mm
  • 11,5 mm x 1,0 mm

TF39TA

  • 7,5 mm x 1,0 mm
  • 8,5 mm x 1,0 mm
  • 10,5 mm x 1,0 mm

If you have any problem to get these half sized internal diameters, is ok to go 0,5 mm smaller.

I know it can be easier to substitute the cap but be aware, especially for TF32TA, production process was modified at one point changing screw type so it’s possible replacement will not fit. Moreover, if it just about o-rings, it’s cheaper to substitute them.

Don’t be fooled from cap diameters (like I was), these o-rings need to be really super tight to not get moved and cut by bottom blank parts so this is why sizes are so small and they need to be stretched a lot.

I hope someone will get here if needed .

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully this will help someone down the road.

What material are you running for your o-rings? I’ve had bad luck with nitrile rubber on Tenkara rods.

I was able to find NBR only on these size. I got an entire package so I can change them something around 20 times per rod, let’s see if it will be enough :joy:

Awhile back I had to replace one and used my calipers to measure them out. I then ordered the larger and smaller sizes in addition to the measured version. It worked well. It is a bummer you have to order so many of the same size.
