After looking around that website a little I realized I have looked at it before just a few weeks ago. And had thought about posting some of the links to the forum, or maybe I did, but have forgotten where.
I particularly liked the series of posting about the tools and how these type of flies are tied. Here’s a link to part 11 (last in the series thus far, before the link to part 12 posted by Mangefu-san) :

David San.that means ( from old style. follow the old way. in old way ) something like that. He dared to use those old way of writing Japanese.

Then I am pleased to see I figured it out correctly. Knowing that both kara & yori (から & より) can mean “from”, And that 依り was maybe an alternate or old way of writing yori. Even though google translated 古式によりて as either; “By the old formula” or as “And by the ancient rite”. But I am used to seeing either “formula” or “rite”, as wrong translations that should just mean = “practice” or “way of doing things” or even “style”.
Anyway, all 11 parts of his Ayu kebari series of post are interesting to look at.
