Using Large Feathers on Small Soft Hackle Flies

I just came across this video and found it helpful for when you want to use those bigger feathers for your soft hackle flies. Thought others might too.

Thanks Tristan. I was running out of smaller leathers and was wondering what I was going to do with all the too-large feathers.

I saw something like this before, and adapted it to my tying by starting with a very small plastic bead at the eye (red or black, depending) and when I wrap the thread forward over the hackle it makes it stand out perfectly. Tight thread wraps for a 90° angle, gentle wraps for a reverse hackle.
