Fish photos

I had a “many fish” day today. This one fell victim to the sawanabori 53.

These were taken on the Dream Stream in Colorado. I shattered my 395 Honryu and caught these on a Hellbender.

How did you manage that?

Peder, it’s seen a lot of use over the last 5-6 years and I’m guessing it probably had a micro-fracture that I couldn’t see. It broke right at the start of the second section.

That makes alot of sense. It happens. Im glad you had a fun time on the Dream Stream. One of my favorite sections of the S.Platte. What were they taking if you don’t mind me asking?

It was a 2 fly rig, nymph, nymph plus a split shot with the bottom fly being a size 22 trico imitation. Everything took the bottom fly.

I had a very similar break and in about the same spot on my Oni 395. I wonder if there is a weak spot there when fighting fish. Mine was lost on a fish as well, the whole upper sections of the rod went down the river and I couldn’t save it.

I fished my tenkara rod with some split shot for the first time earlier this spring. Solid results. Casting wasn’t very pleasing aesthetically but I don’t think the fish cared.

I caught this fella on my Nissin Zerosum 400, and then went back 2 days later and caught him again with my Kurenai 39.

Very nice. Love the hat.

I’m not normally one for trophy photos but I liked the colors on this guy. Caught on the Taylor River in the cascades.
