First brookie of the year, not a bad size at all.
It was great getting the last 2 days after a several-week-long hiatus. Caught one of my better fish, my best fish on this particular river, with my new keiryu rod. The rod and fish will be in an upcoming video.
Got out this morning and had this one pinwheel a while. It barely fit in the net. I was digging the markings so I snapped a photo.

The more I fish this rod the more I like it! Definitely a smaller fish rod I was loosing control with this guy in slow water, at times I could barely could get him off the bottom. Now I still got him in in a timely fashion but I wouldn’t Take this ride if I was targeting large fish on a regular basis but that’s just me
Sorry not sure why sometimes my pictures don’t load
Beautiful fish
A couple of pictures from the River Vez in Portugal. I’ll do a full report after the Tenkara Wisconsin Campout.
Lots of beauty yesterday in the woods on a lovely spring day. Several small and spunky wild brown trout were willing to play… and as icing on the cake, I only needed one fly (no major snags or hang ups).
Beautiful summer morning. 70 degrees and sunny. Low water level 9 csf. Fish were really active. Used one fly (jun kebari). Tried out a new hook type. A size 10 fulling mill 5025 grab gape. Worked great. My hook up to strike ratio was great (7 out of 8) and the hook held very well for landing.
My biggest brook trout so far (~14 inches). It was no match for my Mizuchi.
I started a blog of my fishing trips if anyone wants a look!

thats a nice fish! i envy yall with your flowing streams of cool water. we haven’t had rain in nearly a month and all my fishing spots are covered in stagnant algae bloom.
It’s been a long winter, but I’ve finally caught a fish. First fish of the year! (Caught on a little Yakima river tributary)
Apache trout from the White Mountains in Arizona. The conventional fly anglers commended my clever use of a cane pole.

Huge pond hog on my lunch break today. Within less than a minutes walk from my office is a small pond that gets stocked on occasion. Yesterday Oregon f&g dumped 70 rainbows in the 6-12lb range. It is definitely a freak show with pretty rampant poaching and an absurd amount of littering but the novelty of catching a double digit trout on a lunch break with a fixed line rod hasn’t worn off yet
I keep the dragontail hellbender rigged up in my trunk ready to rock for occasions like this. There isnt much I like about that rod but it has no issues with these big hatchery toads and its the only one i’d risk breaking on these.
