Nice catch.
It’s crazy for me to think they stock them that big. That takes a lot of resources to grow them that large. The OR Department of Fish & Wildlife must be well funded. Out here, the largest they stock is 16", not in the pounds.

Im not sure why they have been putting these huge fish in in such numbers this year. They have only stocked the pond twice this fall/winter and both times with nothing but 6-12lbrs. Usually they stock once a week Oct-March with 8-14” rainbows and this season its only been the two times. I work at a water treatment plant and the hatchery truck has to access the pond through our gated property so we always get the lowdown on what they are stocking.
Beautiful colors for a hatchery rainbow! Ours are always pale and insipid looking.
Love the pics in this thread!!

New to the forum. I’ve been slowly combing through topics the last few days and figured I’d start my contributions here. Some little guys from western Washington this past summer. Can’t wait for spring!
Hey matt, great to see you on here! Those little jewels are stunning.

Had an hour to kill so hit a wild small stream that I like. Had a few of these juvi browns. As I tracked around in the snow I only noticed animal tracks and my own as I doubled back. I know others fish the area, but it always like it when no one has been around. Thats the great thing about snow. It tells a story about time and visitors. One can overlay each in time by noting the freshness of the track…then play back the whole episode in a mental time lapse at the end of the day. Not all of fishing is just about the fish.
Very windy today so the fishing was tough. Got this on a wooly bugger…first time I’ve caught a brookie on a streamer.
New to the forum. Here’s a couple stonkers I caught from the Nantahala river this fall. All on a white size 12 sakasa that I tied.
Welcome! Nice looking Browns!!!
Shot a pic of the most normal looking trout today. All the others were 4x too tall and void of color. Makes me wonder what biological experiments go on at the hatchery.
So proud of my daughter. Caught and landed this brown on her own on the rhodo. Great way to start the day.
